Marist Leader Pilgrimage to L'Hermitage October 2025
Marist Reflection L’Hermitage
October 2025
Sasha from St Mungos Academy
My name is Sasha and my time in L’Hermitage was amazing. I made genuine friendships and talked to so many new people which I would have never imagined happening. We visited La Rosey (the place Marcellin Champagnat was born and grew up), went on a hike from La Valla back to L’Hermitage and for majority of the time, we were in groups with a mix of people we didn’t know. We took part in team challenges where a leader had to be picked from our group, then reflected on our performance afterwards. I was out of my comfort zone but that was the whole purpose, to challenge ourselves, to create a stronger bond between each other and get to know not only your teammates strengths but also your own. This worked because by the end of it all I felt a lot more comfortable with my team members.
My favourite part was the social room. it was the perfect environment to get to know each other even better by simply just communicating. The thought of being a part of this journey though I was quite reserved, but it is so special. It changed my perspective on the way I think and the actions I take. I am really so grateful for everyone that made this possible, for all I’ve learnt about the Marist brothers and the whole experience in general. I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds as a Marist Leader and, if I were to ever come back, I know I would be much more confident in myself and have a more optimistic outlook.
