Fruitful working trip of the Marist student team in Furth
The Marist student team spent three days in the Marcellin House in the Bavarian Forest.
The occasion was the revision of the l'Hermitage trip, which the 11th grade students had experienced themselves in September last year. The students, accompanied by Katharina Huber and Mr. Neumann, worked through the individual items on the itinerary in detail and also gained an overview of the upcoming Marist retreat.
On the way to our destination, we bought food for our stay as one has to be self-sufficient in the Marist cottage in the Bavarian forest.
When we arrived at the cottage, we briefly explored the house and moved into our rooms. We began with a discussion of the upcoming Marist retreat for years 5 to 11 and worked through the retreat for year 11 ourselves. A trial run of the retreat for grade 8 was organised and appropriate roles were assigned. In the evening, we cooked dinner together and planned the upcoming work for the following day.
After a generous breakfast, we spent the next morning revising the trip to l'Hermitage. Based on our own experiences, we contributed our ideas and suggestions for improvements for the upcoming year group's trip and were pretty successful and creative.
After working so hard, we had lunch and then we explored the beautiful surroundings of the Marcellin cottage: we walked to a traditional country-style restaurant in the woods, which is about a 90-minute walk away. The way there took us through the jungle-like Watzlik grove, where nature has been given free rein. Ancient giant trees stand and lie in the forest area. We were also able to marvel at an imposing fir tree, which is about 600 years old. The way back took us along the idyllic river, which used to be operated as a timber canal.
We spent the evening in the cosily furnished lounge of the Marcellin cottage.
After breakfast early on Saturday, we cleared our accommodation and set off on our return journey with many great memories in our suitcases.
